The Youth Center runs twice a week providing activities for children aged 8 to 17yrs. Our Youth Worker Linda is always on the premises during center opening times. The center operates from 12 Bucaan Street across the park from the Chigwell Community House. The center is run as a drop in center where children are free to come and go as they please. The group runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 6pm. There is no drinking, no smoking and no swearing allowed. The Center provides local children in the area with low cost activities. Such activities include 8 ball table, basketball, Sony Play Station and Indoor Hockey. During the school holidays special activities are run eg: Ten Pin Bowling, Rock Climbing, Pizza Evenings, and Day trips for BBQ's etc.
The Youth Center is primarily unfunded, as to date we have been unable to secure any permanent funding for the center. We have been lucky enough to have received small amounts of funding from The Office of Sport and Recreation. This has allowed us to provide the kids with outdoor activities that we would not have been able to afford. The youth center runs disco's once a term from the Chigwell Barn.
